Product information

Every Race Plastics window is custom-made by our experienced team in the UK. Built for motorsport, these polycarbonate windows are lightweight, shatterproof, and far stronger than glass. Unlike acrylics or Perspex, they won’t crack under pressure—giving you peace of mind when you’re pushing hard.

Our standard spec uses 4mm thick polycarbonate, meeting key racing regulations. If you need more strength, we also offer 5mm FIA-compliant windows and hard-coated options for extra durability and scratch resistance.

Windows come in clear, bronze, or grey tints, so you can match the look to your build. You can also add sliders to either or both front doors, depending on how you want to manage airflow.

Window Sliders

Our slider kits are built from the same high-quality polycarbonate as your main windows. Designed for both driver and passenger sides, they’re smooth, secure, and built to last.

You can choose between:

  • Smooth operation with three fixed positions, no rattle
  • Simple and reliable, with two preset stops

Easy to fit and made to avoid rubbing or scratches, these sliders are ideal whether you need more air on track or better control on the road. For full specs, visit the Window Slider Kits page.

How long does shipping take?

We’ll confirm your order right away. Standard polycarbonate kits are usually built and shipped within 3 weeks. Custom or hard-coated orders may take longer—we’ll reach out to confirm the lead time. If you’ve got a race coming up, let us know and we’ll do what we can to hit your timeline.

Can I install the windows myself?

Yes. Most builds are straightforward and there are plenty of how-to videos online. Unless stated otherwise, our windows are made to fit into standard rubber seals. Need bolt-in versions? Just reach out.

Can I pick up my order?

We usually ship via courier, but yes—collection from our Leeds facility can be arranged. Just drop us a message.

Need to change your order?

Get in touch as soon as you can. We’ll do our best to make changes, but if production’s already started, there may be a cost to amend the order.

The Ford Ka rally car

The Ford Ka wasn’t just another small city car, it was a revolution in tiny car design, proving that economy cars didn’t have to be dull, slow, or uninspiring. Launched in 1996, the Ka arrived as Ford’s bold entry into the growing city car market, competing against the likes of the Fiat Seicento, Renault Twingo, and Volkswagen Lupo. But rather than just building another basic runabout, Ford did something different. They gave it personality.
Right from the start, the Ka stood out with its quirky "New Edge" design language, a styling approach that Ford was rolling out across its lineup. Where most city cars were boxy and functional, the Ka had curves, flared wheel arches, and a playful, almost cartoonish stance that made it instantly recognisable. It wasn’t trying to look like a shrunken-down version of a bigger car, it was proud to be small and fun.
Underneath its funky looks, the Ka was surprisingly brilliant to drive. Ford engineers took the best bits of the Fiesta platform and gave the Ka sharp, responsive steering and a well-tuned chassis that made it feel agile and lively. For a tiny car, it handled exceptionally well, turning even the most boring city streets into an enjoyable drive. The low weight and compact dimensions made it perfect for urban environments, allowing it to squeeze into tight parking spots and dart through traffic with ease.
Powering the original Ka was Ford’s trusty 1.3L Endura-E engine, a no-nonsense unit that had been around since the 1960s. Producing just 59 horsepower, it wasn’t fast, but it was reliable, simple, and easy to maintain. Later versions upgraded to the 1.3L Duratec engine, which offered a bit more refinement, but the Ka was never about outright speed, it was about affordable fun, character, and everyday usability.
Then came the Ford SportKa and StreetKa, the performance-inspired versions that proved the Ka could be more than just a city car. The SportKa featured a 1.6L engine with 94 horsepower, a sporty body kit, stiffened suspension, and bigger wheels, making it one of the most fun-to-drive small cars of its era. The StreetKa, a quirky two-seater convertible, added a drop-top experience to the mix, backed by a campaign fronted by none other than Britney Spears, because nothing said early-2000s cool like a pop star in a tiny roadster.
While the Ka was never intended for motorsport, it became a cult favorite among amateur racers and rally drivers, especially in entry-level racing series. Its lightweight chassis, simple mechanicals, and cheap running costs made it a popular choice for budget-friendly track days and rally sprints.
Over time, the Ka built a loyal fanbase, appreciated for its go-kart-like handling, easy maintenance, and cheeky character. It was a car that made people smile, whether they were driving it or just seeing one zip past in its signature bright colors. Even as later generations moved toward a more conventional design, the original Ka remained a standout in Ford’s history, a car that proved small and cheap didn’t have to mean boring.
Today, the original Ford Ka is becoming a sought-after classic, with well-kept examples gaining attention from enthusiasts who appreciate its simplicity, charm, and genuinely fun driving dynamics. It may have been a tiny car, but it left a big impact, one that still brings joy to those who remember it fondly.
