Product information
Race Plastics polycarbonate windows are handcrafted to order by our expert UK team. Designed for motorsport and high-performance use, they’re lightweight, tough, and completely shatterproof—unlike glass or standard acrylics, which can crack under stress.
Our standard windows use 4mm polycarbonate to meet Motorsport UK regulations. We also offer 5mm options that are FIA compliant, plus hard-coated variants for added durability and resistance to scratching.
All windows are available in clear, bronze, or grey tint to suit your vehicle’s design. You can also add window sliders to either or both front doors, depending on your setup.
Window Sliders
Each slider kit is made from the same polycarbonate as your chosen windows. Designed for both driver and passenger sides, these sliders are reliable, practical, and easy to install.
Choose between:
- Three-position locking with a smooth, rattle-free action
- Simple two-position setup for fast and secure use
Sliders are engineered to avoid scratching and sit flush with your window kit. Ideal for improving airflow on track days or road builds. More info is available on our Window Slider Kits page.
Shipping times
Once your order’s confirmed, we’ll get started. Most standard orders are manufactured and dispatched within 3 weeks. Custom or hard-coated versions may take a little longer—we’ll contact you with a lead time. If you need your order by a specific date, let us know and we’ll aim to meet it.
Can I fit the windows myself?
Yes, installation is usually straightforward. There are helpful videos online, and our windows are designed to fit into standard rubber seals unless otherwise noted. If you need bolt-in variants, just contact us.
Can I collect my order?
Collection from our UK facility is available by arrangement. Most international orders are shipped, but we’re happy to sort collection if needed—just get in touch.
Want to change your order?
Reach out as early as possible. We’ll always try to accommodate changes, but if manufacturing has already started, there may be a charge.

The Vauxhall Astra MK4 rally car
When the Vauxhall Astra Mk4 arrived in 1998, it had a lot to prove. Its predecessor had gained respect in both touring car racing and rallying, but the Mk4 needed to go even further. Built on an entirely new platform, this Astra was more refined, more aerodynamic, and far better suited to motorsport than ever before. It didn’t take long before the Mk4 became a serious force in the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) and a popular choice in grassroots rallying.
The Mk4 Astra’s biggest claim to fame came in the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC), where it quickly became one of the most successful and dominant touring cars of its era. Vauxhall, working with Triple Eight Racing, developed the Astra Coupe into a BTCC-winning machine, fielding drivers like James Thompson, Yvan Muller, and Matt Neal.
The Astra Coupe BTCC car featured a heavily modified 2.0-litre, naturally aspirated engine, producing around 280 horsepower, paired with a sequential gearbox and aggressive aerodynamics. The car’s low, wide stance and finely tuned chassis made it a serious competitor against rivals like the Peugeot 406 Coupe, Honda Civic Type R, and Ford Mondeo ST200.
From 2001 to 2004, the Mk4 Astra was almost untouchable in BTCC, securing multiple championships and proving that Vauxhall was the team to beat. The car’s lightweight construction, precision handling, and high-revving power delivery made it the perfect front-wheel-drive race car, able to hold its own against rear-wheel-drive opposition.
The Astra’s success in BTCC wasn’t just about raw speed, it was also about consistency. Vauxhall’s race engineering, clever suspension tuning, and aerodynamics made the Astra a balanced and predictable performer, giving drivers the confidence to push the car to its limits without fear of unpredictable handling.
By the time the Astra was replaced in BTCC by the Vectra in 2004, it had cemented itself as one of the most dominant cars in the championship’s history, setting the foundation for Vauxhall’s continued success in the series.
While the Mk4 Astra’s biggest motorsport success was in touring cars, it also saw action in national and European rallying, where it proved to be a reliable and competitive platform for front-wheel-drive classes. The Astra GSi and SRi models, equipped with 2.0-litre 16-valve ‘Red Top’ engines or later Z20LET turbocharged units, made strong contenders in tarmac rallying, club rallying, and Group N events.
Privateer teams appreciated the Astra for its durability, predictable handling, and strong aftermarket support, making it a cost-effective option for aspiring rally drivers. While it wasn’t built to take on the four-wheel-drive monsters of the WRC, it became a respected competitor in front-wheel-drive categories, often battling against cars like the Peugeot 306 GTi-6, Renault Clio Williams, and Honda Civic Type R.
The Vauxhall Astra Mk4 left a lasting impact on British motorsport, especially in touring car racing, where it proved that a well-built front-wheel-drive car could dominate a national championship for years. Its BTCC titles and consistent podium finishes cemented it as one of Vauxhall’s greatest race cars, while its presence in rallying helped keep the Astra name alive in grassroots motorsport.
Even today, the Mk4 Astra remains a popular choice in track day and rally circles, with many former race and rally cars still being campaigned by privateer teams. The BTCC versions, in particular, are highly sought after, as they represent one of Vauxhall’s most dominant eras in motorsport.
For those who remember the glory days of early 2000s BTCC, the Astra Mk4 stands out as one of the finest front-wheel-drive race cars ever built, a true competitor that proved you don’t need rear-wheel drive to dominate on the track.
