Product information

Race Plastics polycarbonate windows are handcrafted to order by our expert UK team. Designed for motorsport and high-performance use, they’re lightweight, tough, and completely shatterproof—unlike glass or standard acrylics, which can crack under stress.

Our standard windows use 4mm polycarbonate to meet Motorsport UK regulations. We also offer 5mm options that are FIA compliant, plus hard-coated variants for added durability and resistance to scratching.

All windows are available in clear, bronze, or grey tint to suit your vehicle’s design. You can also add window sliders to either or both front doors, depending on your setup.

Window Sliders

Each slider kit is made from the same polycarbonate as your chosen windows. Designed for both driver and passenger sides, these sliders are reliable, practical, and easy to install.

Choose between:

  • Three-position locking with a smooth, rattle-free action
  • Simple two-position setup for fast and secure use

Sliders are engineered to avoid scratching and sit flush with your window kit. Ideal for improving airflow on track days or road builds. More info is available on our Window Slider Kits page.

Shipping times

Once your order’s confirmed, we’ll get started. Most standard orders are manufactured and dispatched within 3 weeks. Custom or hard-coated versions may take a little longer—we’ll contact you with a lead time. If you need your order by a specific date, let us know and we’ll aim to meet it.

Can I fit the windows myself?

Yes, installation is usually straightforward. There are helpful videos online, and our windows are designed to fit into standard rubber seals unless otherwise noted. If you need bolt-in variants, just contact us.

Can I collect my order?

Collection from our UK facility is available by arrangement. Most international orders are shipped, but we’re happy to sort collection if needed—just get in touch.

Want to change your order?

Reach out as early as possible. We’ll always try to accommodate changes, but if manufacturing has already started, there may be a charge.

The Lotus Exige S1 rally car

Some cars are built to be fun. Others are built to be fast. And then there’s the Lotus Exige S1, which was built for one purpose only, absolute domination on the track. This wasn’t just an Elise with a hardtop. This was a hardcore, stripped-down, track-bred monster that took the already brilliant handling of the Elise and cranked it up to 11.
Launched in 2000, the Exige S1 was essentially an Elise on steroids, lower, meaner, and packing serious attitude. The lightweight aluminium chassis remained, but everything else was turned up a notch. It had more power, better aerodynamics, and a handling setup so sharp it could make supercars look clumsy.
Under the bonnet sat a 1.8-litre Rover K-Series VHPD (Very High-Performance Derivative) engine, producing 177 horsepower. That might not sound like much, but when you consider the Exige only weighed 780kg, you start to understand just how rapid this thing was. 0-60mph took just 4.7 seconds, and with a redline at 8,000rpm, it loved to be revved hard. The sound of that engine screaming behind your head? Pure magic.
But power was only part of the story. The real secret to the Exige’s brilliance was its aerodynamics. That massive rear wing and deep front splitter weren’t just for show, they were proper, functional aero components designed to generate downforce, keeping the car planted at high speeds. Unlike the Elise, which was designed for both road and track use, the Exige was all about serious track performance. The downforce meant it could attack corners harder, brake later, and carry speed through bends like few other cars of its time.
The chassis and suspension setup were dialled in for racing, with uprated springs, dampers, and wider tyres giving it an insane amount of grip. The unassisted steering was pure and direct, feeding every bit of road surface straight to your fingertips. If the Elise was about lightweight agility, the Exige was about precision and aggression. It felt hardwired to your brain, responding to every input instantly and rewarding committed driving with an experience that was as close as you could get to a race car without a competition licence.
Inside, the Exige was as bare-bones as it got. No luxury materials, no unnecessary weight, just a basic dashboard, lightweight bucket seats, and a steering wheel that felt like an extension of your arms. Getting in and out wasn’t exactly graceful, but once you were strapped in, you didn’t care. Every drive in the Exige felt like a qualifying lap.
On track, the Exige S1 was unstoppable. It wasn’t just fast, it was surgically precise, embarrassing much more powerful cars with its cornering ability, braking performance, and overall balance. In the right hands, it could keep up with Porsches and Ferraris, proving that you don’t need huge power to be fast, you just need the right car.
But the Exige S1 wasn’t built for the masses. It was a limited-production special, with only around 600 units ever made, making it one of Lotus’ rarest and most sought-after models. It was built for purists, track-day addicts, and those who wanted a car that would challenge them every time they got behind the wheel.
Today, the Exige S1 is a legend. It’s one of the purest track-focused sports cars ever built, a car that reminds us of a time before electronic nannies and turbocharged excess. It’s raw, mechanical, unforgiving, and utterly brilliant.
If you ever get the chance to drive one, don’t hold back. Because the Exige S1 doesn’t do half-measures, it demands everything you’ve got. And if you give it that? It’ll give you one of the greatest driving experiences of your life.
