Product information

Our polycarbonate windows are hand crafted to order by our experienced UK based team. They are designed to be safe, strong and lightweight, making them ideal for motorsport. They are much stronger than glass and shatterproof, unlike Perspex and other acrylics, so you are well protected whilst driving.

Our standard windows are manufactured from 4mm thick polycarbonate to comply with Motorsport UK regulations, whilst we also offer 5mm FIA compliant and hard-coated options for those looking tougher windows.

All of our windows are available in a choice of clear, bronze or grey polycarbonate so can choose the windows that best suit your car. You also have the option to add window sliders to either one or both of the front door windows depending on your preference.

How long does an order take to ship?

We will confirm receipt of your order straight away and will be in touch if we have any questions regarding your order. Standard polycarbonate orders are usually manufactured and despatched within 1-2 weeks of the order being placed. Specialist orders - for example if you choose hard-coating plastic - will take longer, but we will contact you and discuss this with you. If you need your order by a certain date then please let us know.

Can I fit the window myself?

Yes, it is straight forward to remove an existing window and install a RacePlastics polycarbonate window. There are plenty of guides on YouTube to help you do this.

Can I collect the order myself?

Yes, we usually courier orders out to our customers, but if you contact us, we can arrange for collection from our Leeds factory.

How can I change my order?

If you need to discuss or change your order in any way, please get in touch with the team at the earliest chance. We will always try to accommodate any changes but costs may be incurred if the manufacturing process has already started.

The Austin Metro rally car

The Austin Metro rally car holds a significant place in the enthusiast scene, particularly in the realm of rallying history. Originally introduced in 1980, the Austin Metro was a subcompact car produced by British Leyland, designed to be a practical city car. However, it didn't take long for enthusiasts to recognise its potential in motorsport, especially rallying.

In the early 1980s, the Metro gained attention as a rally car due to its nimble handling, compact size, and relatively lightweight construction. These attributes made it well-suited for the tight and twisty stages of rally courses. Moreover, its front-wheel-drive configuration provided excellent traction, further enhancing its performance on varied terrain.

One of the most notable iterations of the Austin Metro in rallying was the MG Metro 6R4. Developed by British Motorsport company Williams Grand Prix Engineering, the 6R4 (6-cylinder Rally 4-wheel-drive) was a Group B rally car introduced in 1984. It featured a mid-engine layout, a powerful V6 engine, and a four-wheel-drive system, making it a formidable contender in the rallying scene.

Despite its relatively short-lived competition career due to the demise of Group B rallying in 1986, the MG Metro 6R4 left a lasting impression on enthusiasts. Its distinctive design, impressive performance, and association with the legendary Group B era solidified its status as an iconic rally car.

In the enthusiast scene, the Austin Metro rally car continues to be celebrated and remembered through rallies, exhibitions, and enthusiast gatherings. Its enduring legacy serves as a testament to the innovative spirit of rally car engineering and the passion of motorsport enthusiasts.
