Product information
Our polycarbonate windows are hand crafted to order by our experienced UK based team. They are designed to be safe, strong and lightweight, making them ideal for motorsport. They are much stronger than glass and shatterproof, unlike Perspex and other acrylics, so you are well protected whilst driving.
Our standard windows are manufactured from 4mm thick polycarbonate to comply with Motorsport UK regulations, whilst we also offer 5mm FIA compliant and hard-coated options for those looking tougher windows.
All of our windows are available in a choice of clear, bronze or grey polycarbonate so can choose the windows that best suit your car. You also have the option to add window sliders to either one or both of the front door windows depending on your preference.
Window sliders
Upgrade your vehicle with the Race Plastics Window Slider Kit, designed for both driver and navigator sides. Crafted from the same high-quality polycarbonate as your chosen window, these sliders ensure seamless integration and durability. Choose between two locking systems: the Click-Click Bearing Lock for smooth, rattle-free operation with three adjustable positions, or the Split-Pin Lock for a simple, secure, and reliable solution with two preset positions.
Engineered for flawless fitment and effortless installation, our sliders prevent rubbing and scratching, keeping your windows looking sharp. Whether you need maximum airflow on the track or controlled ventilation on the road, this upgrade delivers race-ready performance. For more details, check out our Window Slider Kits.

The Hillman Hunter 4-door rally car
Some cars are built for speed, others for luxury. The Hillman Hunter? It was built to survive anything you threw at it, and, as history would prove, it could handle a lot. What started as a practical British saloon in the late 1960s somehow found itself in the middle of rally stages, endurance races, and even the punishing deserts of the Middle East. The Hunter didn’t ask to be a legend, it just refused to die.
Launched in 1966 by the Rootes Group, the Hillman Hunter was a no-nonsense, four-door family saloon designed to be simple, reliable, and easy to live with. It was never meant to be a performance car, but it had one major advantage, it was tough as nails. Built with solid British engineering, the Hunter could take a beating and keep going, making it a favourite among rally drivers and long-distance endurance racers who needed a car that could handle rough roads and endless miles of abuse.
Under the bonnet, the standard Hunter came with a 1.5 or 1.7-litre four-cylinder engine, which wasn’t exactly thrilling, but it got the job done. It had rear-wheel drive, a four-speed manual gearbox, and a chassis that was well-balanced and predictable, meaning it handled surprisingly well for a humble saloon. It wasn’t flashy, it wasn’t exotic, but it was honest and dependable, qualities that would soon earn it a reputation far beyond Britain’s motorways.
Then came the Hillman Hunter GLS, the performance version that gave the car a proper dose of excitement. Powered by a 1.7-litre twin-carb engine producing 94 horsepower, the GLS was quick, sharp, and fun to drive, proving that the Hunter wasn’t just a sensible commuter car, it had a wild side. It wasn’t the fastest saloon on the road, but it had an eager nature and a chassis that loved to be pushed, making it a brilliant underdog in touring car and rally events.
But the real moment the Hunter earned its place in motorsport history came in 1970, when it won one of the toughest endurance races ever held, the London to Mexico World Cup Rally. Covering 16,000 miles across Europe, South America, and back up to Mexico, this was a brutal test of reliability, endurance, and driver skill. Against a field of factory-backed Ford Escorts, Porsche 911s, and Citroën DS rally cars, the humble Hillman Hunter, driven by Andrew Cowan, came out on top. It wasn’t just a win, it was a shock victory, proving that the Hunter could go further, last longer, and take more punishment than almost anything else on the road.
After its rally success, the Hunter became hugely popular in international markets, particularly in the Middle East, Australia, and South Africa, where its rugged durability and simple mechanics made it a favourite in tough conditions. In Iran, the Hunter was rebadged as the Paykan and became the national car, remaining in production until 2005, outlasting just about every other British saloon from its era.
Even today, the Hunter’s rally-winning reputation lives on. It might not have the high-speed thrills of a Ford Escort RS or the exotic flair of a Lancia Stratos, but it’s got something they don’t, true underdog status. It’s the car that was never supposed to win, never supposed to be exciting, and yet, it did both.
If you ever see a Hillman Hunter at a classic car show, give it the respect it deserves. It may not be the loudest or the flashiest car in the room, but it’s one of the toughest, and it’s got the trophies to prove it. And if you ever get the chance to drive one, don’t let its ordinary looks fool you, this is a car with history, heart, and the kind of resilience that most modern cars could only dream of.
