Product information

Our polycarbonate windows are hand crafted to order by our experienced UK based team. They are designed to be safe, strong and lightweight, making them ideal for motorsport. They are much stronger than glass and shatterproof, unlike Perspex and other acrylics, so you are well protected whilst driving.

Our standard windows are manufactured from 4mm thick polycarbonate to comply with Motorsport UK regulations, whilst we also offer 5mm FIA compliant and hard-coated options for those looking tougher windows.

All of our windows are available in a choice of clear, bronze or grey polycarbonate so can choose the windows that best suit your car. You also have the option to add window sliders to either one or both of the front door windows depending on your preference.

Window sliders

Upgrade your vehicle with the Race Plastics Window Slider Kit, designed for both driver and navigator sides. Crafted from the same high-quality polycarbonate as your chosen window, these sliders ensure seamless integration and durability. Choose between two locking systems: the Click-Click Bearing Lock for smooth, rattle-free operation with three adjustable positions, or the Split-Pin Lock for a simple, secure, and reliable solution with two preset positions.

Engineered for flawless fitment and effortless installation, our sliders prevent rubbing and scratching, keeping your windows looking sharp. Whether you need maximum airflow on the track or controlled ventilation on the road, this upgrade delivers race-ready performance. For more details, check out our Window Slider Kits.

How long does an order take to ship?

We will confirm receipt of your order straight away and will be in touch if we have any questions regarding your order. Standard polycarbonate orders are usually manufactured and despatched within 3 weeks of the order being placed. Specialist orders - for example if you choose hard-coating plastic - will take longer, but we will contact you and discuss this with you. If you need your order by a certain date then please let us know.

Can I fit the window myself?

Yes, it is straight forward to remove an existing window and install a RacePlastics polycarbonate window. There are plenty of guides on YouTube to help you do this. Unless otherwise stated, all windows are designed to be fitted into rubber seals, please contact us if you require bolt in versions.

Can I collect the order myself?

Yes, we usually courier orders out to our customers, but if you contact us, we can arrange for collection from our Leeds factory.

How can I change my order?

If you need to discuss or change your order in any way, please get in touch with the team at the earliest chance. We will always try to accommodate any changes but costs may be incurred if the manufacturing process has already started.

The MG MGB GT rally car

Few cars capture the spirit of classic British motoring quite like the MG MGB GT. It wasn’t just a sports car, it was an icon, a car that brought performance and style to the masses without the price tag of an Aston Martin or Jaguar. First introduced in 1965, the MGB GT was the coupe version of the hugely popular MGB roadster, offering a fixed roof, a more refined interior, and grand touring appeal while still delivering that raw, mechanical driving feel that made it a favourite among enthusiasts.
Unlike the open-top MGB, the GT was designed with long-distance driving in mind. The roofline, styled by Pininfarina, gave it a sleek, fastback silhouette that set it apart from its convertible sibling. The enclosed cabin made it more practical too, offering better weather protection, improved aerodynamics, and even a usable rear seat, well, usable if you didn’t mind squeezing into a tight space.
Under the bonnet sat a 1.8-litre, four-cylinder engine producing around 95 horsepower. It wasn’t blisteringly fast, but thanks to the car’s lightweight construction, well-balanced chassis, and rear-wheel-drive setup, the MGB GT was a joy to drive. It had enough power to be entertaining, but it was the handling that made it special. With a low centre of gravity, sharp steering, and a predictable nature, it felt alive in the corners, making twisty backroads its natural habitat.
The MGB GT wasn’t just fun, it was durable. The simple, robust mechanicals meant it could be maintained with basic tools, and it quickly earned a reputation as a reliable, no-nonsense sports car that could be driven hard without falling apart. It wasn’t immune to rust (what classic British car is?), but mechanically, it was a workhorse.
The GT also made a name for itself in motorsport. While it wasn’t built as an out-and-out racer, it found success in endurance events, proving that it could handle long distances at speed without breaking down. Privateer teams campaigned it in rallies and circuit racing, taking advantage of its nimble handling and solid construction. It might not have been the quickest thing on the track, but it was consistent, easy to drive on the limit, and, most importantly, fun.
One of the MGB GT’s most famous variants was the MGB GT V8, introduced in 1973. With a 3.5-litre Rover V8 shoehorned under the bonnet, this version transformed the character of the car, adding serious straight-line performance to its already impressive handling. Sadly, it was short-lived, with production ending in 1976, but it remains one of the most sought-after versions today.
For many, the MGB GT was the perfect blend of usability and excitement. It was a sports car you could drive every day, with enough comfort for long journeys and enough character to make every drive feel special. Even now, decades after production ended, it still holds a special place in the hearts of classic car enthusiasts. It represents an era when sports cars were simple, engaging, and built for the love of driving.
Owning one today is about more than just having a classic car, it's about experiencing a piece of motoring history. The MGB GT isn’t just something to admire in a garage; it’s a car that begs to be driven, reminding you of a time when driving was all about feel, sound, and connection to the road.
