Product information

Our polycarbonate windows are hand crafted to order by our experienced UK based team. They are designed to be safe, strong and lightweight, making them ideal for motorsport. They are much stronger than glass and shatterproof, unlike Perspex and other acrylics, so you are well protected whilst driving.

Our standard windows are manufactured from 4mm thick polycarbonate to comply with Motorsport UK regulations, whilst we also offer 5mm FIA compliant and hard-coated options for those looking tougher windows.

All of our windows are available in a choice of clear, bronze or grey polycarbonate so can choose the windows that best suit your car. You also have the option to add window sliders to either one or both of the front door windows depending on your preference.

Window sliders

Upgrade your vehicle with the Race Plastics Window Slider Kit, designed for both driver and navigator sides. Crafted from the same high-quality polycarbonate as your chosen window, these sliders ensure seamless integration and durability. Choose between two locking systems: the Click-Click Bearing Lock for smooth, rattle-free operation with three adjustable positions, or the Split-Pin Lock for a simple, secure, and reliable solution with two preset positions.

Engineered for flawless fitment and effortless installation, our sliders prevent rubbing and scratching, keeping your windows looking sharp. Whether you need maximum airflow on the track or controlled ventilation on the road, this upgrade delivers race-ready performance. For more details, check out our Window Slider Kits.

How long does an order take to ship?

We will confirm receipt of your order straight away and will be in touch if we have any questions regarding your order. Standard polycarbonate orders are usually manufactured and despatched within 3 weeks of the order being placed. Specialist orders - for example if you choose hard-coating plastic - will take longer, but we will contact you and discuss this with you. If you need your order by a certain date then please let us know.

Can I fit the window myself?

Yes, it is straight forward to remove an existing window and install a RacePlastics polycarbonate window. There are plenty of guides on YouTube to help you do this. Unless otherwise stated, all windows are designed to be fitted into rubber seals, please contact us if you require bolt in versions.

Can I collect the order myself?

Yes, we usually courier orders out to our customers, but if you contact us, we can arrange for collection from our Leeds factory.

How can I change my order?

If you need to discuss or change your order in any way, please get in touch with the team at the earliest chance. We will always try to accommodate any changes but costs may be incurred if the manufacturing process has already started.

The MG Midget rally car

Not every sports car needs big power or a high price tag to be fun. The MG Midget proved that small, simple, and lightweight could be just as thrilling as anything with a high-performance badge. Launched in 1961, the Midget was MG’s entry-level sports car, a tiny two-seater that offered open-top motoring, lively handling, and an irresistible charm. It may have been small in stature, but it had a huge personality, making every drive feel like an adventure.
The Midget wasn’t about brute force, it was about agility, driver involvement, and the pure joy of being behind the wheel. Early models were powered by a 948cc A-Series engine, producing a modest 46 horsepower. That might sound laughable today, but when the car itself weighed just over 600kg, it was more than enough to have some serious fun. Later versions saw engine upgrades, with power increasing to 1.1, 1.3, and finally 1.5 litres, giving the Midget more punch while keeping its trademark lightweight feel.
Driving an MG Midget is like driving a go-kart for the road. It sits incredibly low, with a short wheelbase and razor-sharp steering, making it one of the most direct and engaging driving experiences out there. The rear-wheel-drive setup means it’s playful in the corners, and with its simple, robust mechanicals, it’s easy to maintain and modify.
Unlike its bigger brother, the MGB, the Midget was never designed to be a grand tourer. It was a bare-bones, back-to-basics sports car, built for weekend blasts down country roads, tight hairpin corners, and feeling every bump and ripple in the tarmac. It had no power steering, no electronic aids, and barely any luxuries, but that was part of its charm. You didn’t need any of that, you just needed a good road and a big grin.
Despite its size, the Midget had plenty of motorsport success. It became a favourite among club racers and grassroots competitors, thanks to its lightweight chassis, easy tunability, and brilliant handling. Whether on autocross circuits, hill climbs, or vintage racing grids, the Midget proved that you didn’t need a big engine to be quick, you just needed the right setup and a fearless driver.
But it wasn’t all perfect. By the 1970s, safety regulations forced MG to raise the ride height and fit rubber bumpers, which dulled some of the handling magic and took away some of its classic charm. The 1.5-litre engine in the final models was torquier and quicker, but by 1979, MG pulled the plug, ending nearly two decades of Midget production.
Today, the MG Midget is one of the most affordable and accessible classic British sports cars, loved by enthusiasts for its simplicity, charm, and sheer driving fun. It’s a car that reminds you that you don’t need massive horsepower or modern tech to have an absolute blast behind the wheel.
Owning a Midget isn’t about performance figures or straight-line speed. It’s about embracing the joy of driving, about feeling every inch of the road, every gear change, and every perfectly executed corner. It’s a car that proves that sometimes, the best things really do come in small packages.
